Hello everyone, I'm back with another two pages to share.

Hope you enjoy looking at them!

Project Life: Travel Edition: Two layout share!

Monday, July 29, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hi Everyone! Here are some more project life pages for you to look at. I'm not going to say the products, but I will label the manufacturers if you are interested.

This page is one of my favourites so far. I think that might be because of the title card, I may have to use that idea again in other places of the album.

Thanks for coming by!

Fun Favourite Memories

Saturday, July 27, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello everyone! I thought I would share a layout today from my trip, but not a divided one to break up the project life style postings.

This page shows one of my favourite photos. However, I am not fond of the page. I thought I would share the page with everyone and then take it apart and post the new page that I make. I don't know what went wrong, but I thought it would make a fun experiment for my blog. Let me know if you like this sort of thing and I can do more of it with my older layouts that I am not a fan of anymore.

Since I don't really like this layout I won't go into detail with the products that I used. I will share that when I re-do this particular photo.

Project Life: Travel Edition: Arrival

Thursday, July 25, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello crafters! I have another Project Life page for you today. My project life pages don't necessarily go together in the sense that they are the same event/time period on each double page. This one is about our arrival in Zambia and our hotel, but the facing page is about activities we did in the beginning days of the trip.

For the little people that are on the page, they are a stamped image. It's from the Sightseer stamp set from Close to my heart. There were 7 girls on the trip and one boy, so that is what there is in the stamping. I thought that it would be a good way to use that stamp as well as show the people on the trip.

This page is mostly pictures because I took a lot of pictures on my trip. If the pictures don't have any specific story attached to them, my plan is to make them in project life format. If they are more detailed stories there will be a scrapbook layout close to the divided layout that goes along with it. I hope that make sense to you. Once I get my album done I will share pictures of what I am talking about. A couple of the pictures are going to show up in 2 places, but that's ok with me.

I will share more about that later.

Thanks for stopping by!

Project Life: Travel Edition: Adventure Ahead

Tuesday, July 23, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello everyone! I have a few more project life pages coming up for you. I will try to break them up with a few scrapbook layouts and cards so that it doesn't get too boring for you.

This page spread is about our travel, all 30 hours of it, to get to Africa. It talks about the plane, stretching, and Casablanca. It's not going to be the title page for my album, I have a group shot of us leaving the train station that I am going to use for that, but currently it is the title page.

The smaller cards on the page are Mambi cards that you can get from Michaels. The larger blue card is from a Heidi Swapp paper pad and the second 4x6 card is from Echo Park.

Thanks a Bunch: CTMH June stamp of the month

Sunday, July 21, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello! I have a quick little card today, this was super easy to make and would make a great mass production card!
I used the CTMH June stamp of the month for the sentiment and flowers, unfortunately after June you won't be able to get this great set. I'm sure there is something out there that is similar though.
I used promarkers to colour the flowers and CTMH pear ink for the sentiment.

I just cut up some scraps that I had in my drawer and matted everything in black and it was done! That simple to make.

Enjoy this easy little card! Thanks for stopping by. Link to your blog below if you have any simple little cards like this, I would love to see them! If you have and questions or comments just leave them below and I will get back to you!

Bo Bunny birthday card

Wednesday, July 17, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hi everyone!
This is going to be a quick post.

This card was made using a Bo Bunny 6x6 paper pad. Not sure what the name of it is, but it has cupcakes and such in it. I used stampin up white cardstock. A CTMH cricut artiste stamp set with Hero Arts shadow ink in Raspberry Jam.
I embossed the sentiment with silver.
This card has a lot of dimension to it, so I probably won't mail it to anyone, but would make a great card to put in with a present, maybe for one of my nieces.

Thanks for stopping by!

Elephant best friends layout

Monday, July 15, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello everyone! I am back with another elephant layout. Eventually I will be done with scrapping the elephants, but I can't help it they are just so cute!

You may notice that a lot of my papers are repeating on my recent layouts, that is because I brought some papers down out of my scrap room to scrap in the living room area where my husband's computer is. So I am determined to get all those papers used up! When they are I will go get another "box" of papers and use those ones up. I am trying to use my stash of papers before buying more! If I get a bunch used up I will reward myself with some new goodies!

This layout uses paper from American Crafts, not sure which lines specifically because I don't know where the branding strips are. They came in one kit or another from Studio Calico. The larger photo mat is from Basic Grey Soleli though. I'm pretty sure the yellow paper and the striped paper is Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm though. Which I have very little left of now from the kit. I am going to buy that collection once I get some of my stash used up!

The washi tape is exclusive to a SC kit, but it is just a grey chevron, I'm sure another company must have one similar to it. The thickers are Sotheby's I believe, I can't find the packaging for them. That ticket was cut using the Silhouette Cameo, it came in a "bundle" of tickets in the store. The little stamped image is from a set that came in an SC kit.

That kraft tab at the top is a Silhouette cut, also from the store, I think it's a rolodex type folder cut. The little stamped image is from an SC project life stamp set I believe. (not sure because all my stamps are mixed together now) The blue label came in a kit as well.

I promise I am almost done with elephants, but there might be a couple more to come though! I just love them.
Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, just them leave in the comments and I will answer them!

Close to my Heart Promotion

Friday, July 12, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello everyone!
I thought I would try something, anyone who would like to pre-order the new Cricut Artbooking collection from Close to my Heart may do so and receive a surprise (one of my favourite CTMH products).

The collection comes with the cartridge which features over 700 images, font, mini books and layouts.
3 D-size stamp sets
3 12' dimensional elements in coordinating shapes from the cartridge

This promotion will run from today (July12th) until August 1st when the cartridge goes "live".

If you do decide to order the new cartridge before the deadline and spend over $150 in one order, I will add in another surprise (will be a stamp set) for you as well! So, if you get the cartridge and spend another $50, you will receive 2 surprises!

If you don't have a cricut but still want to participate that is fine too! Spend $150 or more on one order and you will receive a surprise (will probably be a stamp set, I have decided yet)!

Remember too, if you spend over $50 on anything in the store you can get the stamp of the month for $5.

To place an order, simply e-mail me with the items that you would like, if you want the cricut artbooking just send an e-mail that says that. Should you wish to order anything else just go over to my website to take a look around, then send me an e-mail with the "title" that you want or the item number (or both if you want)! It's that easy!

As soon as I receive your order and payment, I prefer online bank transfers, but we can discuss specifics over e-mail, I will place the order right away!
I can have the order ship right to your house so you don't have to go anywhere or do anything other than browse the wonderful product online

If you want to do this in conjunction with a home gathering, I would be more than willing to discuss that with you as well! Just send me an e-mail to jessclosetomyheart@gmail.com and I will get right back to you!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Cute as a Bug Card

Friday, July 12, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hello everyone! I have a really cute card for today! I love this layout for a card so much I think I will make a few more in this style!

I used a Close to my heart stamp set from the Spring catalog. It's super cute and has lots of adorable bugs on it! I coloured them with a little bit of Promarker and added glossy accents to two and stickles to another. I can't remember if I used diamond or star dust stickles, but it was one of them.
The paper is Amy Tangerine sketchbook and Dear Lizzy Neapolitan. The card base is Stampin up white cardstock as is the focal image paper. The black is recollections cardstock from Michaels.

The two little hearts are leftovers from a Silhouette doily I cut out for a different scrapbook layout for a challenge. So I just keep using those little hearts until they are all gone!

Hope you enjoyed this cute little card! If anyone is interested in the specific dimensions of the paper, leave a comment below and I will post them for you!

July Sketch Challenge SOUS

Thursday, July 11, 2013 5 Comments A+ a-

Hello everyone. Sorry for all the challenge postings, but the deadlines are all approaching quickly. The stamp shape is from the elegant edges cartridge. I did use a border punch that is a notebook edge for the border at the bottom. The two border strips are the branding strips from the paper.

For this layout I used paper from Close to my Heart. I love this paper collection so much and I haven't used it yet. I may have to order more of it. Unfortunately you can't order it anymore. The cardstock is outdoor denim, it's a great navy blue colour.

The title is cut from the Silhouette, you can find it in the online store. I used CTMH pearls and rhinestone gems. I also used some viva decor pearl pen for the white colour. The sequins are from an old Studio Calico kit, as are the wood veneer arrows.

The kraft keyboard letters are also from CTMH. I love them so much, I am on my second package of them. They are probably the best letter stickers that I have used in a long time. They are the perfect size and are a nice neutral colour.

Project Life 2 Journal Card Challenge

Thursday, July 11, 2013 4 Comments A+ a-

Hi everyone! Back again with another Stuck on U Sketches challenge. This time it is a Project Life challenge, you had to use 2 journal cards on one page.

I am still trying to get my trip all finished with for scrapbooking and such. So it is another trip project life theme. This time it is all about the birds that I was able to get pictures of while on safari.

I used a lot of Sn@p in this page, as well as some photo mat cardstock from DCWV that is jungle/safari themed. I bought it a long time ago, I don't even know if you can still get that. I was just happy to have something to use up the rest of it on!

50's Die Cut Challenge

Thursday, July 11, 2013 2 Comments A+ a-

Hi everyone! I am back with another challenge post today. It's for Stuck on You Sketches, and I forgot about posting this until today which is the deadline. I know that is bad!
For this challenge you had to use something that was 50's inspired. I don't have the Nifty Fifties cricut cartridge, so I went on the Silhouette store and searched 'fifties'. I found this cooking woman that I liked so I cut it out.

I tried to select patterned paper that was sort of vintage in nature. The sentiment is from a CTMH set, from the Artiste (I think) cricut collection. I heat embossed it with silver to make it stand out more. I didn't want to put more black on the card because I wanted the image to stand out on its own being black.

The mat for the image is also cut from the Silhouette, once I have it out I just try to stick with one machine. I'm sure that something from the Elegant Edges cartridge would work too though.

Hope you like my card! I was thinking that it would make a good notecard or maybe a birthday card.

Sweet Giants

Hello again! I am back with (another) elephant layout! I know know, I keep making them, I can't help it I loved the elephants so much and took hundreds of pictures of them!

I used papers from the Studio Calico May kit. The letter stickers are Pebbles (given to me by the wonderful Kristina Werner)!

The wood veneer heart was coloured with ink to match the layout. It's Lagoon from Close to my Heart.

The geotag, tag, is a silhouette cut from the store cut out in kraft cardstock from stampin up.

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all having a fantastic summer!
Today I have a layout using a lot of product from the May studio calico kit. I loved this kit so much that I was saving the papers to use on something special. The cloud paper is from the June kt.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Canada Day Card

Monday, July 01, 2013 0 Comments A+ a-

Hi everyone! Today is Canada Day here so I decided that I would make a card celebrating that!

I used a stamp set from Close to my Heart, and there is a little back story to this stamp set so bare with me for a bit. For the month of June (2013) if you buy one of two stamp sets part of the sale goes to various charities. The Canadian set goes to the Canadian Hero Fund which supports families who have lost members in combat. They in turn help provide monetary support for post-secondary education for children. So I bought this stamp set for that reason. Then I realized that we don't really make cards for Canada Day here so I wanted to!

I used Stampin up white cardstock as my base, I love this paper so much! You will notice a pattern in my upcoming posts! I also used Stampin up black cardstock. The red paper is from Sn@p, one of the paper pads from Michaels.
I used CTMH ruby ink for the flag, and black for the pole, the Mountie and the wording. For the inside of the card I used Stayz On in black because I wanted a really crisp ink for the smaller wording.
I coloured the Mountie in with a couple Promarkers.

The inside is really simple, just the quote which is from the same stamp set. I matted it with the red paper again just to add some of the red to the inside of the card.
There is a lot of white and red on this card but I figured since it was for Canada Day there couldn't really be too much of it!

Have a great long weekend if you are Canadian!

Happy Canada Day!
